Access control systems (ADK) - flexible and secure access to buildings

Access control - also known as ADK system or ADK facility - is a solution that controls who gets access to buildings, rooms or doors. An access control system can be mechanical (classic locking systems and keys) or electronic (cards/tags, codes, app or biometric solutions). Often, electronic access can be integrated with existing locks so you don't need a completely new locking system on the door.

Sophisticated access control systems allow for precise control of who has access to which areas - and when. This means you have a security system that not only gives you peace of mind, but also far greater flexibility in your day-to-day operations. By implementing an access control system, your business or housing association can save time on administration as well as costs associated with lost keys, lock system replacement and much more.

Electronic access control allows you to

  • Access control with card or tag: Use of tags with RFID and Mifare technology to grant access
  • Access control with code: Requires entering a PIN code for access.
  • Access control with two-factor authentication: Authentication using both RFID and Mifare technology tags and code
  • Access control with an app: Using smartphone apps to control access.
  • Biometric authentication access control: Allows access using fingerprint or facial recognition. However, we recommend one of the above solutions.

What is access control?
Access control systems control who can enter certain areas or use certain things. It works by using keys, key cards, codes, fingerprints or facial recognition to ensure that only those with authorization can gain access.
What is the difference between offline and online access control?
Offline requires changes and logging to be done at the door. Online is centrally managed and updated instantly.
Do I need a new locking system?
Not necessarily. Often, electronic access control can be connected to existing locks and cylinders.
What happens if a piece is lost?
It's deactivated with just a few clicks - much faster and cheaper than rewiring an entire locking system.
Can access control integrate with other systems?
Yes, it can often be integrated with alarm, door automation and intercom for a total solution.
What are the benefits of access control?
A clear advantage of access control is that you can easily add or exclude citizens. This can come in handy if a key is lost. With a normal locking system, it may be necessary to change the entire system if a key is lost.
What access control solutions are available?
With an offline electronic locking system, there is no communication cable between door and PC. Changes to the system must first be made on a PC and then implemented at each door via a key fob or programming device. In practice, this means that a caretaker or other knowledgeable person must carry information to each door. The advantages of an offline system are that it is cheaper to set up than an online solution. On the other hand, there will be ongoing costs associated with getting the information to the door and retrieving the log yourself. With an online electronic locking system, a communication cable goes out to each door and everything is controlled centrally from a PC, mobile or other device. When changes need to be made, they are made on the PC and immediately communicated to the door. The advantage of this solution is that it's quick and easy to make changes to the system and stay updated with log files from each door. The disadvantage of this solution is that the one-off costs are relatively high compared to offline access control.

Save money and get more security

On average, only 10% of doors in Danish buildings are equipped with electronic access control today. This means that a full 90% of Danish doors still use regular keys*.

In particular, many workplaces use an electronic locking system. This creates great security by knowing who is in the company – and not least when. In addition, it is quick and easy to create, edit or delete in an access card system when employees change – or when, for example, new residents in the housing association or guests move out of hotels.

Electronic access control is the future

The future will show whether the technological developments taking place in the business world regarding the switch to electronic locking systems will also be transferred to private homes – and thus even out the balance between users of electronic access control systems and ordinary keys.

If you have a conventional mechanical locking system, you risk having to re-engineer the entire system if just one key goes missing. An access control system eliminates that problem.
