Do you need a doorphone or a new locking system in the housing association?

Upgrading the locking system or intercom in the building's entrance hall can be a good way to increase security for residents. Perhaps one or more residents in the homeowners' association have requested an improvement at a general meeting, or after a gang of thieves has broken into the home or other buildings nearby. Read more about what you need to be aware of in the housing association if you are about to have a new locking system or door phone installed.

Well-designed access control systems allow for precise control of who has access to which areas and when this access is allowed, making it much easier to control who has access and when. By implementing access control systems, your business or housing association can also forget about the administration and expenses associated with lost keys, replacing locks and much more.

This must be taken care of before you install a new locking system or doorphone.

It may seem obvious to get started right away and have a new locking system or door phone installed. However, it is important that there is a clear majority in favor of the installation on the board and that the articles of association are in order. To be on the safe side, the introduction should be approved by at least a two-thirds majority at a general meeting of the association. If one or more members oppose the measure, the matter may unfortunately end up in court. It is therefore important that the association's board ensures that the applicable articles of association for the adoption of the above installations are followed precisely and that the relevant sections of the articles of association are formulated clearly and unambiguously so that they cannot be interpreted differently.

Doorphone provides security and safety

There are still many burglaries in Denmark, and burglars like to target apartment buildings in large cities. To prevent burglaries, many housing associations have chosen to install door phones at the entrance door so that the door can be locked. This allows residents to assess whether the person at the door has business in the building. It is therefore important to choose an intercom with a good audio system so that residents can easily talk to visitors and assess their connection to the building. Despite the extra security provided by an intercom, it is not impossible for unauthorized persons to gain access to the building. Unfortunately, it is easy to gain access by pretending to be a newspaper delivery person, pizza delivery person, or even a locksmith. To avoid trick thieves, it can be an extra security measure to choose a door phone system with a video camera, which makes it possible to see who is actually ringing the bell. However, this does not mean that you still need to be on guard against trick thieves. Unfortunately, a good door phone system cannot stand alone. If there is no proper locking system installed in the entrance door, it is easy for a thief to push the door open. Read also: Door phones and intercom systems in Copenhagen and the surrounding area

Who sells doorphones?

Many large locksmiths and security companies often offer door phone systems. Some suppliers simply sell door phone systems, while others, such as Keypartner, install and, if desired, operate the door phone system. It can be a good idea to choose a local installer in case repairs or maintenance are needed. Very large companies often operate with central management of service teams, which can prolong waiting times. This can be annoying if the installation has been vandalized or damaged. It is important to look for a supplier with a fast response time.

Increase security with a strong locking system

It is inevitable that one or more keys will be lost over time. This can result in your building no longer being optimally secured against intruders. In addition, wear and tear and lack of maintenance may make it necessary to replace the locking system. When multiple users need access to the property, a locking system is a good solution, as it allows multiple keys to be used in the same lock. In addition, a locking system makes it possible to grant different levels of access. This way, some users can be given more access rights than others. At the same time, the lock system is copy-protected, which significantly increases security. Read also: Get rid of large key rings with a lock system

Upgrade to electronic locking system

When many different groups of people need access to the same housing association or building at different times, a mechanical key can be impractical and require a lot of administration. In addition, it can be difficult to keep track of who has been given keys to the property and to ensure that the correct number of keys are returned. An electronic locking system or access control allows residents to access their homes via a key fob, card, or app. An administrator can control who has access to which doors and delete lost keys. When a resident moves out of the rental property or a key fob is lost, the key fob can easily be deleted from the system so that it can no longer be used. This increases security for all residents. In addition, you avoid a lot of hassle and expensive system changes when a key is lost. That is why electronic access control is ideal for housing associations. What's wrong with our current locking system?

There is not necessarily anything wrong with your current mechanical locking system solution. Most properties have some form of mechanical locking system where keys cannot simply be copied on the nearest street corner. And this is generally a good solution. As long as the keys are kept under control. The price of system keys is often a bit steep, and the disadvantage is that it is not possible to revoke access for lost keys. Therefore, the system often has to be reconfigured if a key is lost or stolen.

Get a quote for a doorphone system or locking system from a supplier

It is a good idea to obtain quotes from a supplier either prior to a board meeting so that the quote can be presented at or prior to the general meeting. This way, residents can see what it will mean for them financially and get an overview of the opportunities the installation offers them. Once you have obtained a quote from the supplier, it makes sense to calculate what it might cost for each individual household in the association. You can usually also get the supplier to come and present the installation at the general meeting so that residents can better understand the decision.
