For many years, the number of burglaries in Denmark has been high. The statistics speak for themselves: among its neighbors England/Wales, the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden, Denmark has the highest burglary rate. Denmark is therefore not the country with the most burglaries. in total, but the country with the most burglaries per capitaIn other words, it is us Danes who are most at risk of receiving visits from these uninvited guests.
It shows a analysis from the Crime Prevention Council. According to the analysis, Denmark had a burglary rate of approximately 5.8 in 2015 (meaning that 0.58% of the population had been burgled), while the burglary rate for the Netherlands and England/Wales was down to approximately 3.6, and for Sweden and Germany down to approximately 2.2.
Fortunately, you can fight burglary yourself by making your home burglar-proof!

Fortunately, there are many smart solutions available today to ensure that your home does not become part of next year's burglary statistics. At KEYPARTNER, we specialize in advising and helping citizens to secure their homes against theft, and our mission is to reduce Denmark's burglary rate even further. In this way, we can hopefully do better than our neighboring countries in the burglary statistics – rather than being the worst.
To ensure a positive development, we have prepared this guide, which gives you 5 tips for securing your home against burglary. By following these tips, you will significantly reduce the risk of a burglary in your home.
The five tips can be divided into two types: Tips 1-3 help you make it difficult for thieves to commit burglaries, while tips 4 and 5 have a purely preventive effect in relation to burglaries.
1. Get window locks
Did you know that 50% of all burglaries occur through windows? This is partly because we tend not to secure our windows as well as we secure our doors. You should therefore make your windows burglar-proof by installing window locks. Lindrucker window locks are some of the best on the market. They can be installed in wooden, plastic, and aluminum windows, regardless of whether the window is side-hung, top-hung, or mullioned.

2. Strengthen your patio door
Many burglaries occur through patio doors. These typically open outwards and are therefore easier to break open. It is therefore important that you burglar-proof patio door, and you should do this by either installing a code or cylinder lock on your door handle. The advantage of this is that the thief cannot smash the glass and open the door.
You should also burglar-proof your patio door by having an external security rail fitted (see picture), as this prevents thieves from using crowbars/screwdrivers etc. to get between the door and the frame and break the door open.

3. Replace your deadbolt with a security deadbolt on your front door
If your front door has a standard strike plate, you should replace it with a security strike plate, as this will increase its break-in resistance. A security strike plate can withstand a front pressure of 700 kg and a side pressure of 500 kg, making it much more difficult for a thief to break the door frame.
Remember that it is important that the strike plate is correctly secured, as a large part of the lock unit's overall strength lies in the strike plate.
4. Get a burglar alarm
A burglar alarm is a really effective way to protect your home against break-ins. The alarm does not prevent the burglar from entering, but primarily has a preventive effect: when you put up the alarm stickers, the burglar will often reconsider whether it is a good idea to break into your home. If the thief decides to take the chance anyway—or overlooks the sticker—they will most likely quickly change their mind and leave as soon as the alarm goes off.

5. Get video surveillance
Like a burglar alarm, video surveillance is a preventive solution for burglary protection that can be very effective. Before the burglar breaks into the home, they will see the sticker indicating that the home is under surveillance. This will probably make the burglar think twice about whether breaking in is a good idea.
